Keynote Address; Celebrating milestones in Health and Human Rights' work in Uganda

On 26th September, we convened a pre-UCHD conference gathering to commemorate the advancements in a crucial field pivotal to the realization of the right to health. The event centered around the theme “20 years of Health Policy and the Law: Celebrating Milestones in Health and Human Rights work in Uganda.”

It was hosted by the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) to honor the contributions of leaders who have significantly impacted health, policy, and law, bringing notable benefits to Uganda’s healthcare system. Additionally, the event aimed to chart the course for the future of this field.

The distinguished Retired Hon Chief Justice of Uganda, His Lordship Benjamin Josses Odoki graced the occasion and delivered a comprehensive Keynote Address. His speech highlighted the milestones achieved in the field of Health, Policy, and Law over the past two decades in Uganda.

Call For Expression Of Interest For A Short-Term Consultancy Service To Conduct A Mapping And Capacity Assessment For Civil Society Organizations On Governance And Accountability In Koboko And Maracha Districts

The Center for Health, Human Rights, and Development (CEHURD), with support from the European Union through the Office of the Prime Minister under the Development Initiative for Northern Uganda (DINU) Action, is seeking for a consultant to conduct a mapping and assessment of the local CSOs / CBOs on Governance and Accountability in Koboko & Maracha Districts.

Consensus Statement On Key Health Issues To Be Addressed By The Parliamentary Health Committee In The 11th Parliament Of Uganda

Between 22nd and 24th of October, Center for Health, Human Rights and Development convened an orientation for the new committee of Health of the Parliament of Uganda. As an outcome of this orientation retreat, a consensus statement was developed, discussed, agreed upon and signed.

The consensus statement describes collective intent of of both the Health Committee and Center for Health, Human Rights and Development to work together to improve health sector policy framework and other health sub programme outcomes.

Legal and psychosocial support messages for female sex workers during COVID-19

In the wake of a national lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak, CEHURD in partnership with Alliance of Women Advocating for Change (AWAC) and Network of key population service organizations (UNESO), with support from OSIEA, implemented a project to address the legal and psychosocial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on female sex workers in Uganda. As a result, these legal and psychosocial messages were developed.
