CEHURD 2025 Annual Report

The pursuit of health justice is a journey shaped by the experiences, struggles and voices of the people and communities we serve. It calls for us to recognise the progress made, learn from the challenges we have faced, and continue building a future where everyone can enjoy their right to health with dignity and equality.

The Centre for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) is pleased to present its 2025 Annual Report, themed Social Justice in Health: Honouring the Past and Shaping the Future.

The report reflects on a year of action, learning and collective effort to advance health and human rights in Uganda. It highlights the work undertaken with communities, partners, government institutions, health workers, legal practitioners and other stakeholders to address barriers to health, strengthen access to justice, influence policy and law, and amplify the voices of people whose rights are often overlooked.

The report captures the progress made and the lessons that continue to shape CEHURD’s work. It also recognises the people and partnerships behind this progress and the importance of sustained collective action in advancing social justice in health.

Honouring the past means recognising the work, struggles and milestones that have brought us this far. Shaping the future means using those experiences to ask what more needs to be done and how we can build stronger systems that place people, dignity, equality and human rights at the centre of health.

As we reflect on 2025, this report is a reflection of a continuing journey towards a health system where justice is accessible, rights are respected, and every person can claim and enjoy their right to health.
