2023 CEHURD Annual Report

Celebrating CEHURD’s Achievements in FY2023: Advancing Social Justice and Human Rights in Health

In FY2023, the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) remained steadfast and bold in its efforts to advance social justice and human rights in health as part of Uganda’s national development agenda. Our interventions throughout the year strongly promoted a multisectoral approach, fostered innovations, nurtured accountability, secured landmark Court judgments, advocated for improved health budgets, and expanded our reach to new target constituencies and geographical areas among others.

We are excited to share with you our 2023 Annual Report. We invite you to celebrate with us the achievements and reflect on how we successfully navigated the challenges of the year and continued to make a meaningful impact in the realm of the right to health.

Your continued support and collaboration have been instrumental in realizing our shared objectives and vision.

2019 CEHURD Annual Report

The year 2019 marked CEHURD’s 10th year in health rights advocacy. It is also a unique year as the institution rolled out its new strategic plan 2020-2024 that builds upon the experiences, lessons and practices from the previous years. The strategic plan is focused on the theme; Rebound, Innovate and Sustain. The institution has successfully grown into the second stage of development – the youthful stage.

At 10, CEHURD has experienced remarkable growth, innovation and learning but also challenges. During the year, CEHURD continued to consolidate its gains from the past, while exploring new strategies of engagement as a means to institutional strengthening. Our work contributes towards the achievement of national, regional and global health and human rights frameworks. These include: the Constitution of Uganda; the Public Health Act; Universal Declaration for Human Rights and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The new strategic plan introduces a number of changes for the betterment of CEHURD. These are both at the Management and Programmatic Level.

2018 CEHURD Annual Report

In December 2019, CEHURD will make 10 years of visible and tangible progress. With a great backbone provided by the Board of Directors, committed partners, a great staff and our communities of interest, we have managed to stay focused on the key issues, which has been essential to our success.

For the past nine years, we have held the banner for justice and the right to health for vulnerable and minority groups and I am proud to say we have returned solid results. We are continuing to lead the way to total enjoyment and observance of health and human rights by all.

As an assurance to the continuity of our cause and our unchanged core focus, we can point our success to earlier trials, the newly developed strategic plan 2019-2023, a new organogram, a case tracker and our committed partners.

We have seen the need to revise and introduce new programs that will revamp our mission and vision to secure even greater achievements, we acquired new computers to improve our performance and embarked on more new projects. The decision to take on any additional developments will be based on the needs of our target constituencies and on existing opportunities.
